In their first match back from winter break , Poly Prep Girls' Varsity experienced tough losses against a steady Hackley squad, on their home courts. While the varsity lost 0-7, the score does not reflect the close matches at every position.
Notable matches included eight grader, Kim Burke and junior, Charlotte Bowditch who both pushed their opponents to four games with their strong depth, which put their opponents under pressure in the back of the court. Unfortunately, in Bowditch’s third game, she was struck in the face by her opponent’s racket, causing an injury time out and making it difficult for Bowditch to continue her momentum in the fourth game.
Senior and captain, Madeline Petrie played steady squash in her exhibition match and came away with the only Poly win of the afternoon, with a decisive 3-0 victory over her Hackley opponent.
