Poly Prep vs Packer Collegiate

The Poly Prep Girl’s Varsity challenged Packer at the Eastern Athletic Club in Brooklyn Heights, where there was an energetic crowd of high school squash players from surrounding schools. Packer’s team proved to be strong at the top of the line up, with four players in the top 30 (nationally) in their age group. The Poly Prep Varsity rose to the challenge, displaying determination and impressive effort in each of the eight matches.

Sophomore, and number six, Olivia Doran had the closest match of the afternoon, winning by two points in the fifth game. This was an impressive result for Doran, who used her mental toughness and control in the fifth game to keep her opponent deep and under pressure. With the second win of the night, Isabella Plotnik came out strong and used her strong volleys to put her opponent under pressure in all three games. Captain, Nicole Colandrea displayed a strong performance in the exhibition match and adjusted her game (after losing the second game) to decisively win the third and fourth games, 11-11, 11-1.

Despite missing their captain and senior, Madeline Petrie due to injury, the Blue Devils took advantage of this valuable experience and supported each other throughout the afternoon.
