Business end of the season

We're getting towards the business end of the season now on the PSA World Tour. The Hong Kong Open and the World Championships in Qatar in December are the last two major events of the year. Good results in either or both of these events can play a major part in determining rankings for the next 12 months, especially with the World Champs offering big ranking points.

My last few events have yeilded mixed results. A close 5 set match with Shorbagy in the US Open was a missed opportunity, while a finals appearance in the Santiago Open in Spain was good and bad at the same time - beating No.1 seed Adrian Grant in straight sets in the semis, but then followed by a 3-1 defeat to Rosner in final wasn't what I was hoping for. After crashing out in the quarters at my last event in the Dayton Open, I'm keen to get back in the winners circle at the next 2 events.

If anyone followed the World Womens Teams event this week they were treated to a great final between England and Egypt. Congratulations to Egypt on taking the title, which came down to the last match and 5th set. Nail biting stuff! Also a massive congratulations to Australia for finishing 4th in the event. A great effort by our girls and they represented Australia with pride. I watched some matches through the live streaming and provided running #commentsfromthecouch on Twitter - a bit of light hearted running commentary.

I'm really looking forward to these last 2 events and you can watch heaps of the matches live on www.psasquashtv.com. Commentary will be anchored by PSA's own Johnny Depp lookalike, Joey Barrington.
