Poly boys JV Philadelphia Trip: falls to Conestoga, Haverford

Like the varsity team, the Boys JV team had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia and play and see at some of the best schools in the country. In their match against Conestoga and Haverford, the JV Teams managed to compete hard and learn from the experience. The teams exposure to this competition continues to prepare them for the next steps in their squash games as they continue to apply and dedicate themselves to the sport and push towards playing at the next level. The experience proved invaluable and helped the team progress to a tremendous 4-3 victory against Pingry this past Wednesday.

On Friday, the JV lost narrowly to Princeton Day 3-4. However, the team has shown great improvement throughout the line up and in particular, Sophomore, Garon Rothenberg and Freshman, John Donigan have made great leaps in their games both in interscholastic play as well as in moving up the ladder on the team roster. With upcoming matches against Delbarton, and Birch Wathen Lenox as well as rematches with Packer and Princeton Day, the JV Team is poised to continue its improvement and serve as a great developmental squad for the varsity teams for the years to come. Against a very tough schedule, The JV team is now 3-5 overall.

In addition to both squads upcoming matches, the teams are also relishing the opportunity to watch the best pros in the world play this coming Friday on an all-teams trip to the JP Morgan Tournament of Champions at Grand Central Terminal. In addition, all teams will have the opportunity to play in the US Squash sanctioned Poly Prep Bronze Tournament in early February as well as watch a pro-level exhibition between former Trinity College All-American and member of the 4 time Intercollegiate Team Champions, Gustav Detter and current US # 2, Chris Gordon.

It’s a very exciting time for Poly squash. Thanks again for all of your support.
