Poly Prep Boys Varsity Loses to Lawrenceville Academy 1-6

As a follow up to their story book 2011-12 season, the Boys Varsity opened up the season against one of the premier teams in HS Squash and that the Blue Devils have ever faced at the prestigious boarding school, Lawrenceville Academy, of NJ. With its tremendous facilities and experienced roster, the Lawrenceville team defeated the Boys Varsity 6-1 in a relatively close encounter.

Throughout the lineup, the Boys Varsity were competitive with the Lawrenceville match and played long, extended rallies. In the end, the pace, strength, and consistency of Lawrenceville got the better of us. It was however, an amazing learning experience for our team who experienced first hand, the steps the team needs to make to improve and reach the top echelons of HS Squash. Particular highlights of the match came from Junior # 6 Vincent Giovinazzo putting Poly on the scoreboard with a 3-0 victory.

In addition, Freshman standout, Egyptian, Yehia Essam in the # 1 position lost a competitive 3-0 matchup to his fellow Egyptian country mate to one of his role models from Cairo, Lawrenceville’s Junior, Fady Sarwat, currently the best player in HS Squash in a match that inspired and dazzled the crowd.
