Poly Prep JV Boys Report

The Boys J.V. team, led by Poly grad, coach Edwin Goncharuk finished out the first half of their season with a 3-2 record overall with victories over Blair Academy (6-1) and Hackley (7-0) and a narrow loss to Packer (3-4).

Led by their Captain, Junior, John Fischer, the team has been training hard throughout the season and building off of their results in each match and each day of practice. In the # 3 and 4 slots, Sophomore, Garon Rothenberg and 8th grader, Thanassi Stratigakis have continued their undefeated runs throughout the season thus far with very impressive play throughout the season.

It’s been a great group devoted to learning and honing their skills as they continue to take their involvement in the sport very seriously and prepare themselves to be ready for Varsity competition in the games to come.

While the JV comfortably defeated Blair and Hackley with their ability to place the ball in the corners of the court precisely, against Packer, the team fought and lost a very closely contested match 3-4 that they hope to avenge later in the season.

The JV team next travels to Philadelphia for overnight training trip and matches with Episcopal Academy, Conestoga, and Haverford School before returning to Poly to play Pingry, Princeton Day, Portledge, as well as rematches with Packer, Hackley, and Blair.

It’s been a great season for both teams and thanks for all of your support.
