Whitman take 2012/13 CIVL

Whitman HS (pictured below) took both Divisions of the CIVL cup in 2012/13 over a strong competition including BCC, Landon and Wakefield HS.  The Chase  Interclub Varsity League CIVL was established in 2005-06 to provide competition between club and varsity school squash teams in the DC area, (Div 2 added 2008-09). Each winter, over a hundred players from schools including Whitman (div 1 and 2), Landon (div 1 and 2),  Stoneridge, WIS, Independent Combination team, BCC, Wakefield, TJs and St Johns play in a round robin format with teams of similar caliber. Play offs and Finals are played late February.

 Whitman Squash team, captained by Sophomore Jeremy Barnes, won the Div 1 and Div 2 championships for 2012-13. This is the first time since 2008 that Whitman had won both divisions. In Div 2 Whitman defeated Landon 2, Stoneridge, and WIS only losing to the IC team in the minor round. Whitman 2 defeated Landon 2 in the Finals. In Div 1, Whitman won all their matches against BCC, Wakefield, Landon 1, TJs and St Johns. In the finals, Whitman defeated Landon 1. Whitman team trains Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays afternoons throughout the academic year and plays matches in the Chase  Interclub Varsity League through winter. Go Vikings!
