Hello M5.0 captains and co-captains, We hope you’re enjoying the season. You’ve played your last regular season match and on March 9 you’ll start New York Squash’s version of March Madness. Instead of our typical season format, with the regular season followed by four teams making the playoffs, we have so many teams that this year we’re doing a bracket style single-elimination tournament, aka March Madness. Here’s the deal: The 13 teams will be seeded based on the regular-season results (the 12 matches played to date). This weekend we’ll publish a 16 team bracket, with the top three seeds enjoying a first round bye. Each week, we’ll send out an updated bracket with your next matches. The higher-seeded team will host if possible. The dates are: Round 1: March 9 = sweet 16 Round 2: March 16 = elite 8 Round 3: March 30 = final 4 Round 4: April 6 = championship In addition to the main bracket, there will be a consolation bracket for the teams that don’t advance in the first round. Player eligibility: Anybody on your roster can play in Round 1 and Round 2 (provided they’re not subbing in for another team’s playoffs). But for Round 3 and Round 4 eligibility, players must have competed in three matches for your team. Look out for our email this weekend with the playoff bracket. At that time, we’ll ask hosting captains to reserve courts for the early rounds. Good luck everyone! Andrew, Jessica & Josh
