Ducks Safe and Sound

For several hours on Wednesday afternoon, a team of civilians & patrolmen from the 19th worked to prevent a mother duck & her 9 ducklings from wandering into heavy traffic.

We were finally able to corral the ducks & drive them to Randall’s Island. Once released, the ducks made a beeline for the water and were last seen swimming happily in the Little Hells Gate Salt Marsh.

Thanks to everyone who stopped to help, especially to the little boy and young woman who started the process, and to Wendy, who was the only one able to catch to the duck (on her 1st try).
