New WSA president Aisling Blake in action

Following the WSA World Tour’s recent AGM, the organisation are pleased to announce that Chairman and acting CEO Ingrid Lofdahl-Bentzer has been reappointed to serve another two year term.

With a background in marketing, sponsorship, media and sport, Ingrid has seen the tour move forward promisingly in her seven years on the board of directors.  The former tennis professional spoke after her reappointment:  “I am honoured to have gained the membership’s confidence and trust to serve the WSA for another term.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Legal Council and Board Member, Peter Goodman for his valuable contributions to the WSA during his tenure, and wish him every success following his decision to not seek re-election.”

Antony Lee returns to the WSA board of directors for a third term, having been first appointed in 2007.  He said: “I am delighted to have been re-elected to the board. Women’s squash has reached an important threshold and I believe we are now ready to capitalise on all the hard work done to date. It is a pleasure to represent such a passionate and dedicated group of athletes who deserve better recognition on the world stage.”

A new appointment sees former PSA World Tour player and American squash event organiser Nathan Dugan elected to the board.  His involvement with the Cleveland Racquets Club and the Cleveland WSA Classic event made him strong candidate for the role.  Mr Dugan spoke of his appointment:  “I am honoured to have been selected to join the WSA board by the members of the Association.

“I have been involved with the WSA as a tournament director for the past six years, where I have already met many of the current players. I believe the WSA players are great ambassadors for the game of squash, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to be involved with the tour in a new capacity.”

In addition to the changes to boardroom changes, the WSA World Tour have bid farewell to the tour President, Jaclyn Hawkes.  Jaclyn has retired from the sport after announcing her pregnancy, and all involved with the WSA World Tour wish her the very best for the future.  World No.23 Aisling Blake from Dublin, Ireland has been appointed the WSA President.
