"The British are coming, the British are coming".  No they arrived today, September 24. Nine strong, the RLC (British Army logistics experts) squash team members are staying at a secret New York City location preparing for the first of eight matches against eight stalwart American teams.  On the 25th they play an all-star team at the venerable Westchester Country Club.

In the next nine days they play teams from the Harvard Club, the Princeton Club, Sports Club/LA, the Union Club, an all-star team from that hotbed of squash, the Bronx, Westchester Squash, the Union Club and a Street Squash/City Squash joint team.  The British in their near holy quest to take back to England the War of 1812 Redux Trophy, began training within hours of arriving at JFK at a secret club, unknown to most New Yorkers, which they referred to as "the Junction."

English Bookmakers have made the British a 7-5 underdog leading one to suspect that one of their top players is nursing an injury.  The British captain refused to confirm, but stated, "Every man will do his duty".

The matches have been arranged by New York Squash, which welcomes the "special relationship" with their friends across the pond and hopes to add more innovative events in the future.
