In their last match of 2012, the Poly Prep Girls’ Varsity traveled up to Tuckahoe, NY on Friday afternoon to play Riverdale at the Pyramid Squash Club.   This was the first match for Riverdale ‘s newly formed girls' varsity team.  The Blue Devils proved to be more experienced in the end, earning a 7-0 victory over Riverdale.  Every member of the Poly squad had decisive three game wins, but the Blue Devils had to stay focused in every rally, as the athletic Riverdale team fought hard for every ball.

Notable matches included, sophomore, Olivia Doran, who played well in the first two games of her match and outlasted her opponent in many long rallies, which helped her to take the third game more convincingly.  And in her first varsity exposure, Lindsay Carbone, had a close exhibition match, but after losing the second game, she adjusted her footwork to gain more control and depth, which helped her to take the third game 11-4.

The girls’ varsity looks forward to their last week of practice before break and to their winter break trip to Philadelphia, wherethey will look to gain even more match experience against some of the top teams in the country.
