World number one James Willstrop recovered from losing the first game to reach the second round of the World Championships in Doha.

The 29-year-old from Leeds beat fellow Briton and world number 59 Chris Ryder 7-11 11-5 11-3 11-2.

Willstrop will face England's Adrian Waller or Canada's Shawn Delierre.

England's defending champion Nick Matthew, who won the title in 2010 and 2011, plays Switzerland's Nicolas Mueller on Saturday.

Also in action on Saturday is England's Jaymie Haycocks who became the lowest-ranked player to qualify for the tournament.

The world number 87 will be up against unseeded Australian Ryan Cuskelly, the world number 33.
