POLY PREP HOSTS NICOL CHAMPIONS ACADEMY
Run by former World Champion, Peter Nicol, Poly Prep is proud to host Peter’s first year-round Academy starting September, 2013. As a player, Peter is widely considered to be one of the legends of the sport and, as a native of Scotland, is the first player from the U.K. to hold the World # 1 Ranking. Throughout his career, Peter won one World Open Title, Two British Open Titles, Four U.S. Open Titles and Four Commonwealth Games Gold Medals. Nicol was ranked World No. 1 for a total of 60 months during his career, including a continuous 24 month stint in 2002-2003.
Now, having segued into being a full-time coach and in his 5th year running the Nicol Champions Academy, Peter and his partner, Jess Winstanley are ready to offer a year-round program designed to help each student achieve his/her personal goals—whether it be to perform better in tournaments, improve their mental game, or play on the college squash team of his/her choice. Full guidance will be provided for all aspects including guidance for the college application process.
The program will be arranged 3-4 weekends of each month and include 4 sessions per weekend all hosted at Poly Prep. Each full time player will also receive guidance with choosing which tournaments to play through the year and the goals of each session will be geared towards peaking for these events. In each clinic, the goals will be to develop an environment of playing and training hard, working with friends, and being overseen by dedicated and fantastic coaches. The core group will be an elite group of players—however, there will be a minimum of 2 sessions/month devoted to developing players of all levels. In addition, adult sessions will take place 1-2 sessions/month.
