First-year student Amr Khaled Khalifa captured the St. Lawrence University men's squash program's first individual national title with a 3-0 win in the College Squash Association Individual Championship in Hartford, CT, Sunday. Khalifa swept top-seeded Todd Harrity, a senior from Princeton, in the Pool Division championship match.

Khalifa won 11-4, 11-6, 12-10 to claim the Pool Trophy and finish his debut season with the Saints with an unblemished 15-0 record. Khalifa did not drop a game to Harrity, but his most difficult match of the season was in Saturday's semifinal round that propelled him into the championship match. The Cairo, Egypt native battled back from a two-game deficit, knocking off the defending champion Ali Farag of Harvard in the fifth game, 13-11, to advance to the Sunday's CSA finals.

Earlier in the championships, Khalifa opened with a 3-0 victory over Johan Detter of Trinity (11-6, 11-7, 11-8) and followed that up with a win over Harvard's Brandon McLaughlin, 3-0 (12-10, 11-3, 11-5). In the quarterfinals, he defeated Princeton's Tyler Osborne 3-1 (11-8, 11-13, 11-4, 11-5) before upsetting Farag on Saturday.
