Chelsea Piers launched its summer pro league and drop in last year and kicked off the 2013 series on June 12th.

The format is simple. Club head pro Natalie Grainger works tirelessly to pair players based on skill level, you show up, play your match, and then play some more with whomever is around and willing. The 40-50 players on hand this past Wednesday, combined, with the club's eleven singles squash courts translates to plenty of opportunity to play.

Whether by intent or by happy accident, the level of play was extremely high.  The event attracted a number of top players from junior to adult.  As examples, Willy Ezratty (BU# #1 was on hand, as well as other top juniors like Riya Patel and Cody Cortes. On the pro side, a fit Faraz Khan was there fresh from a winning University of Rochester season, as were Chris Callis, the Sobhy sisters, Adam Bews, Chelsea Piers pro Michelangelo Bertocchi. Video clips of some matches are available here.

The $35 admission to the event  ($25 for Chelsea Piers members) included a yummy Indian buffet dinner and drinks at the attached pub, and a number of players chatted and lounged until well past 10pm.

The round robins run every Wednesday through August 28.  Contact Natalie Grainger to signup.
