If you think New Yorkers abandon squash each summer for the tennis court or the bike path, think again.  The record turnouts at the weekly StreetSquash round robins show that interest in squash runs year-round.  NY Squash and StreetSquash started collaborating on a weekly event four years ago with the intent of offering a casual and social outlet at the conclusion of the more competitive league season.  The event initially attracted a small mix of StreetSquash players and New Yorker but now attract a range of players from college players looking training in the off-season to near beginners.

The format is simple - two hours of informal squash (singles and 3/4 court) followed by pizza, Gatorade and (for those over 21) beer.  Last week, the night of squash rolled over to Bier International (Harlem's new and trendy beer garden) for a few round of pub food.
