Varsity Girls Suffer Big Loss to Spence

The girls’ varsity faced Spence for the second time this season on their home courts at the 86th Street NY Sports Club. The Blue Devils started out strong with sophomore Olivia Doran taking the lead with a 11-5 win in the first game. Doran continued to fight in the next three games, only narrowly losing each game by a few points. Following Doran’s match, junior Charlotte Bowditch played in her first match back after a two-week recovery from her injury. Bowditch had the closest match of the night and fought hard in the fifth game, with a strong come back, but could not stop her experienced opponent, losing by 3 points in the fifth game.

While the Blue Devils lost at every position, they had 2 five game matches, 3 four game matches, and 2 incredibly close three game matches, proving that they were equally matched against this strong Spence squad. The girls’ varsity played determined squash overall and clearly showed progress from their first match against Spence in the fall.
